I’m a senior BACP-accredited psychotherapist offering one-to-one online clinical supervision to qualified counsellors and psychotherapists across the UK.
For me, good supervision is a place where you can think openly about your work. That might mean bringing a case that has stayed with you, feeling uncertain about something that happened in a session, thinking through an ethical dilemma, or becoming curious about what is happening between you and a client.
I also believe there should be room to notice what is going well. Supervision can easily become focused on problems, risk and the things we think we should have done differently. Those conversations matter, but so does recognising good work, developing confidence in your own clinical judgement and understanding more clearly the therapist you are becoming.
My approach is collaborative and reflective. I will support you, ask questions and offer another perspective where it may be useful, while providing a space where difficult or uncomfortable aspects of the work can be thought about honestly.
My original training was integrative, and I later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies.
Over the years, my practice has continued to develop through further training, professional experience and working with a wide range of clinical presentations.
This breadth of experience informs my supervision. I am interested in looking at client work from different perspectives rather than trying to fit it neatly within one therapeutic model.
There is space to think about formulation, the therapeutic relationship and what may be happening beneath the surface, while keeping sight of the person behind the theory.
I hold a Level 7 qualification in clinical supervision and undertake regular continuing professional development to ensure my practice remains current and ethically informed.
Before training as a therapist, I spent more than 20 years working as a Biomedical Scientist within the NHS. My therapeutic experience has since developed across a broad range of settings. I have volunteered with Samaritans, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust, NHS IAPT services, a drug and alcohol service and within the charitable sector. I was also employed as a therapist within a Tier 3 NHS weight management service.
Alongside my private practice, I currently work part-time for an organisation providing psychotherapy to emergency service professionals. This has given me considerable experience of working with trauma, occupational stress and the complexities of therapeutic work with people whose roles regularly expose them to difficult or distressing experiences.
Working across such varied settings has brought me into contact with a wide range of clients, presenting difficulties and ways of working. I bring that experience into supervision, while recognising that every therapist, client and therapeutic relationship requires its own thinking.
Supervision is available online via Zoom or Teams and can be arranged at a frequency that reflects your caseload and professional requirements.
Sessions are yours to use according to what is most relevant at the time. You are welcome to bring particular client work, documentation or contractual issues, questions around boundaries or risk, or anything else arising from your practice that would benefit from discussion.
I work with qualified counsellors and psychotherapists from different therapeutic backgrounds and recognise that supervision needs can change over the course of a practitioner’s career.
If you are considering supervision with me, please get in touch and we can arrange an initial conversation to see whether I am the right supervisor for you.
If you would like to arrange an initial therapy session or enquire about clinical supervision, please contact me.
